The state capital, Lucknow, operates separate directories for the development of Ayurveda and Unani medicine system throughout the state. The deputy chief medical officer is in charge of health in the district and the municipal medical officer is responsible of health in the city. Both work under the supervision of the Chief medical officer residing in the district headquarters.

The deputy chief medical officer is in charge of the public health centres and state dispensaries in rural areas of Mainpuri. A district will have more than one chief medical officer with in whom the in charge of primary health centres is equally divided. One medical officer is supported by other medical officer to supervise the centres of maternity, child welfare and family planning operating in the city. For each primary health centres attached a family welfare centre to propagate the ideology of small planned family advantage among the Mainpuri citizen.

The vaccination program through government bodies was introduced in the city by 1987 under which an efficient team operates to provide vaccination for the new born to reduce the rate of infant mortality. This team functions under the supervision of public health assistant and two other assistant superintendents. The tehsil sanitary inspector is in charge of sanitation in the city and to prevent food adulteration. The municipal health officer is in charge of licensing food products and medicine distributed within the city.
